Summary
Provide technical assistance to maintenance supervision in the repair and improvement of all process equipment throughout the plant.

Duties and Responsibilities
May include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Review fixed equipment inspection reports and recommendations for equipment repair and/or replacement.
  • Ensure inspections are done timely and that the inspection intervals are optimized.
  • Review inspection frequencies of pressure safety valves to ensure they are adequate and track compliance.
  • Evaluate fixed equipment fitness for continued service.
  • Perform equipment failure analysis (root cause analysis) to determine and correct equipment problems to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Follow equipment repair in shops to ensure timely and proper repair.
  • Work with other engineers to develop and improve maintenance procedures for equipment inspection and repair.
  • Participate in process improvement programs such as Six Sigma.
  • Demonstrate strong safety culture through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is required; certifications like PE, CMRP, API 510, API 570, API 653 are a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in maintenance/reliability work in the petrochemical industry.
  • Experience with stationary equipment; knowledge of NDE, shop processes, ASME/API code, corrosion, and metallurgy preferred.
  • Familiar with OSHA's process safety management standards regarding mechanical integrity.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, CMMS, and Inspection Data Management System (IDMS).
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid TWIC.

Physical Demands
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, handling, reaching, talking, and hearing. Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Requires judgment and sustained concentration.

Work Environment
Moderate noise in office; may involve working in operating units requiring PPE. Exposure to outside elements and travel may be required.
