Job Summary

As an Assistant Director, you are responsible for assisting the Director of Environmental Services in directing and leading the operational needs of the Housekeeping Department. You will coordinate the tasks of the Operations Managers and serve as a liaison between hospital administration and departments, ensuring the highest level of service.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and review standards and work procedures for all Housekeeping staff according to facility policies.
  • Plan work schedules, hours, areas, and duties to ensure comprehensive housekeeping coverage.
  • Interview, hire, evaluate, and recommend termination of housekeeping personnel following facility standards.
  • Orient, train, develop, and supervise all Housekeeping staff.
  • Perform regular inspections and evaluations of the facility; recommend actions and assist with relocations.
  • Conduct staff meetings and coordinate activities with other departments.
  • Schedule major projects, ensuring adequate staffing and supplies.
  • Maintain inventory of housekeeping supplies.
  • Assist the Department Director with budget management.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required.
  • Working knowledge of housekeeping procedures.
  • Progressive experience in healthcare housekeeping and facility maintenance.
  • Strong work ethic, drive, and commitment to quality and customer service.
  • Excellent communication, listening, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage staff participatively, handle stress, organize tasks, and develop budgets considering facility needs.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and follow-through skills.
