Job Description

We seek an experienced Instrumentation Engineer specializing in instrumentation for gas plants, refineries, petrochemical facilities, pipelines, and distribution systems. The role is within the Process Automation and Systems Division of the Process & Control Systems Department.

The primary responsibilities include designing, developing, installing, and troubleshooting instrumentation systems, collaborating across disciplines, and participating in safety, innovation, and operational excellence initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support instrumentation including level, temperature, pressure sensors, control valves, safety valves, flow meters, etc.
  • Conduct engineering studies for optimal solutions, safety, and cost efficiency.
  • Lead investigations into incidents and technical problems, and undertake special assignments.
  • Develop and maintain standards, specifications, procedures, and best practices aligned with industry codes.
  • Evaluate vendors and contractors, and represent the company in technical dealings.
  • Perform technical evaluations and attend bid meetings.
  • Introduce best practices and new technologies to enhance performance.
  • Perform cost analyses and value engineering.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Instrumentation, Mechanical, or Electrical); Master's or PhD preferred.
  • At least 20 years of relevant professional experience, ideally with major Oil & Gas companies or instrumentation suppliers.
  • Experience in plant instrumentation sizing and selection.
  • Certifications such as ISA CAP, CFSP, TUV FSEng, PE, or Chartered Engineer are desirable.
  • Knowledge of H2S, LEL, pH, gas analyzers, and safety detectors is preferred.
  • Proficiency with industry standards (API, ISO, ASME, ISA, IEC, etc.).
  • Experience in HAZOP, SIL, P&ID, and design reviews.
  • Understanding of control systems, instrumentation for compressors and pumps, communication protocols (DNP3, Modbus, etc.).
  • Active membership in professional societies like ISA or IEEE for at least 3 years.
