ERM is seeking a hands-on Consulting Associate, Geologist/Scientist/Engineer to join our consulting firm, reporting into our Baton Rouge, LA or New Orleans, LA offices depending on applicant qualifications. The successful candidate will work on various site investigation, remediation, decommissioning/demolition, and hazardous waste management projects throughout our Gulf Business Unit service area. Opportunities for travel across the U.S. and globally may also occur. This role offers a chance to collaborate with ERM's technical experts, implement advanced investigation and remediation technologies, and gain experience towards professional registration.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct field work, including sampling, aquifer testing, drilling oversight, soil logging, monitoring well installation, and construction oversight.
  2. Coordinate and oversee drilling, surveying, and laboratory services.
  3. Provide construction oversight on environmental remediation projects and operate/remediate systems.
  4. Assist in data interpretation, and prepare site work plans, reports, and technical documents.
  5. Perform Phase I and II environmental assessments for property transactions.
  6. Vegetation GPS mapping/Wetland Delineations a plus.
  7. Work with project teams under the guidance of Project Managers.
  8. Ensure work adheres to quality, budget, schedule, and scope expectations.
  9. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  10. Communicate with subcontractors, regulators, stakeholders, and clients during field activities.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering/science, or related fields; Masters preferred. Minimum 3.0 GPA or equivalent experience.
  2. Recent graduate (preferably within 3 years) with an interest in field assignments.
  3. Knowledge or experience with environmental regulations is a plus.
  4. Ability to work independently and in teams.
  5. Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills; experience with technical reporting is a plus.
  6. Commitment to safety and adherence to health protocols.
  7. Valid driver's license; ability to operate a vehicle required.
  8. 40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus.
  9. Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  10. Local candidates preferred.
