Position Overview:

The CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) and/or NACE (National Association of Corrosion Engineers) Inspector is responsible for performing welding and coating inspections in accordance with industry standards, codes, and client specifications. The inspector ensures that welding and protective coating applications meet quality and compliance standards through visual examination, documentation, and technical evaluation. Classroom and on-the-job training hours are beneficial and will be considered in the candidate evaluation process.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Conduct inspections per AWS (for CWI) and NACE/AMPP standards for coating applications.
• Review and interpret specifications, drawings, and welding procedures.
• Monitor weld quality, welder performance, and coating surface preparation and application.
• Perform visual inspections and use testing tools such as gauges, micrometers, and thickness meters.
• Accurately document inspection findings, prepare reports, and maintain detailed records.
• Verify compliance with project specifications, standards, and codes.
• Report any deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Coordinate with welders, painters, engineers, and clients to ensure project standards are met.
• Adhere to all site-specific safety procedures and company policies.

Qualifications:
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) and/or NACE (Level I, II, or III) certification required.
• Classroom training hours and OJT are beneficial.
• Must be able to pass a background check (no past or present felonies).
• Must pass a hair follicle drug screen and urine test.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Solid understanding of welding processes, coatings, and applicable codes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Dependable, detail-oriented, and self-motivated.
• Team-oriented with strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

Physical Conditions:
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Requires extended periods of standing, walking, climbing ladders/scaffolding, crouching, and kneeling.
• Must be physically able to wear required PPE including FR clothing, hard hat, gloves, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and respiratory protection as needed.
• Ability to perform inspections in physically demanding environments for extended periods.

Working Environment:
• Work performed in industrial, construction, and fabrication environments including refineries, pipelines, plants, and field sites.
• Exposure to varying weather conditions, heights, confined spaces, and potentially hazardous materials.
• Travel to different job sites is often required.
• May include overtime, night shifts, weekends, and long hours depending on project schedules.
