STATUS: Full Time

STARTING PAY: Based onexperience

HOURS: 7:30am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, 7:30 to 11:30 on Friday

LOCATION: Baton Rouge,LA Office

OPPORTUNITY:

GEC's Civil EngineeringGroup has an open position for a Pre-Professional Civil Engineering Internfocused on developing a career mainly in water resources engineering and othercivil engineering disciplines. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who strivesto learn from other professionals and develop himself or herself on a careerlevel. The selected candidate will receive one-on-one mentorship from engineersof various disciplines as well as from their immediate supervisor. The internwill have the opportunity to support projects for federal, state, and localclients, gaining hands-on experience in real-world engineering solutions.

MINIMUMQUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCEREQUIREMENTS:
• Has obtained aBachelor's of Science or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering (from an ABETaccredited program).
• The desire to obtainor has already obtained a Louisiana Engineering Licensing Board (LAPELS)certification as an Engineer Intern (EI)
• Possess strongwritten, oral, and computer skills, including thorough knowledge of MicrosoftOffice Programs, notably Excel and Word
• Must have theability to work within the United States. Job offer does not include visasponsorship.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Must possess a validdriver's license; driving or the ability to perform off-site work is a jobrequirement
• Ability to workindependently, maintains a positive attitude, and works well with coworkers,all levels of management, and clients
• The future desire toprovide engineering and technical support within the Civil EngineeringDepartment through services such as departmental development, detailed projectplanning, front-end engineering and detailed design, opinion of constructioncost, and technical documents and reports for a variety of engineering projects.

VALUED EXPERIENCE(NON-REQUISITE):
• Advanced computerskills/knowledge including, but not limited to programming and modeling
• Ability to read,analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,technical procedures and/or governmental regulations
• Ability to writereports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
• Ability toeffectively present information and respond to questions from groups ofmanagers, clients, customers and the general public
• Ability to defineproblems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
• Experience usingcomputer assisted engineering design software, specifically AutoCAD orMicrostation
• Possess knowledge ofor have prior experience in either hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) analysis,stormwater management, flood mitigation, watershed modeling, stormwaterinfrastructure design, master planning, surface water assessments, or waterquality studies is a plus.
