The Pre-Clinical Intern will assist various staff members in the clinic setting. This may include, but is not limited to, the following tasks: preparing exam rooms for visits, medical scribing for providers, assisting with administrative tasks, assisting with referrals, gathering vital signs, and front desk duties such as checking in/out patients, scheduling patients, calling patients to confirm appointments, and verifying insurance. Program Manager will set established guidelines to assist with accomplishing tasks. The Pre-Clinical Intern works under the close supervision of the physician or clinic manager.
* Responsibilities and Duties
* Adheres to clinical practice guidelines and scope of practice with supervising physician.
* Ability to carry out multiple tasks throughout the day.
* Assists front desk with answering phones, filing and preparing charts, checking in/out, referrals, verifying and confirming benefits, coordinating paperwork for patient needs such as FMLA or back to work/school messages.
* Assists with rooming patients and coordinates patient flow to ensure physician efficiency which includes managing the patient schedule and wait times.
* Medical Scribing. Ensuring the accuracy of chart notes and verbatim transcription of encounters. Physician documentation is completed consistent with policy including transcription of patient information and patient orders as dictated by the physician. Accompanies the Physician into the patient exam room to transcribe a history and physical exam as stated by the physician during the interview and exam of the patient.
* Documents patient visit notes accurately which may include but is not limited to the chief complaint, past medical and surgical history, family history, vital signs, immunizations, allergies, medications, nutrition and health and wellness issues as directed by physician practice and organizational processes.
* Performs duties in a manner that results in improved patient outcomes and patient satisfaction scores.
* Manages different tasks under the direction of the Physicians and/or clinic leadership. Completes special projects as assigned.

* Must be a current Pre-Med Student or have a Bachelor's Degree with plans to apply to Medical School.
