JOB DESCRIPTION
Emerson is currently seeking a Machinist to work in our climate controlled facility in Gonzales, LA. Integral to our Rapid Response business, this role is responsible for creating and repairing parts with precision to meet our uncommonly high safety, quality and design specifications. Machinists will work under moderate supervision to inspect, create, , modify and repair parts using CNC and manual lathe and mill operations on different materials. As a part of a skilled team, this role will report directly into the Machine Shop Manager and sit on-site at any one of our 5 Rapid Response Repair Centers.
Please Note: This is a second shift position with work hours of 3:30p - Midnight.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be
- Reviews parts, blueprints, drawings to select appropriate machine tooling methods, setting up or adjusting tools, and determine sequence of operations needed to create or repair parts.
- Able to operate all machine types in the shop efficiently and adjust as needed.
- Creation of new parts from castings or bar stock and ability to perform touch up machining of used parts in adherence to safety and quality standards.
- Applies an understanding of materials and material selection principles, cutting tools, speeds and feeds, coolant requirements and machining techniques necessary for routine or standard part fabrication.
- Examines and performs a final part inspection on all completed parts in order to detect defects and ensure quality conformance to specifications, using precision instruments such as micrometers.
- Supports the maintenance of equipment through the preventative maintenance schedule.
- Maintains a safe and clean workstation and adheres to all safety work rules and policies.
- May travel to perform field service work at other Rapid Response Centers, Impact Partner or customer locations as needed.

- Basic mechanical aptitude
- Demonstrated ability to quickly learn proprietary systems
- Strong communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to meet deadlines Ability to prioritize competing demands
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skill
Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart
- Previous experience operating mills or lathes
- Associate's Degree in a relevant technical field
