Job Summary:
Function as a working supervisor to manage a team of Project Engineers at the CF Industries' Donaldsonville Complex. Responsible for development, planning, and execution of capital projects related to planned turnarounds in all units (Ammonia, Urea, Nitric Acid, UAN, DEF, Green Hydrogen, CO2 Compression).

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of Project Engineers, including contract support staff, within the Project Engineering department whose primary focus is capital projects for turnarounds.
  • Assist the Chief Project Engineer with developing annual capital budgets and maintaining accurate forecasts for capital projects scheduled to be executed during turnarounds. Help with developing high-level estimates for future projects and finalizing EWR/AFE scope for future turnarounds in accordance with CF turnaround processes.
  • Ensure capital project schedules are incorporated into Maintenance master turnaround schedules in a timely manner. Provide support to Project Engineers to plan work orders, when applicable.
  • Ensure projects meet plant specifications and requirements.
  • Follow design codes and ensure designs are technically correct.
  • Ensure that established AFE, EWR, Turnaround SOP, and Site processes/procedures are followed for projects assigned to their group and identify deficiencies and opportunities or improvement in existing processes/procedures or the need for new ones to allow for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and maintain a network of contacts that can provide the goods and services necessary for successful work execution while ensuring contract service organizations coordinate with CF's EHSS and Procurement departments to assure that turnaround vendors adhere to CF policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate executed work against planned work to identify and address deficiencies when planning future turnaround work for similar projects. Confirm that follow up EWR's are created for issues that could not be addressed during the current outage.
  • Coordinate execution of projects with Operations, Maintenance, and EHSS departments to confirm the facility's goals are maintained.
  • Ensure all project activities meet expectations for safety and environmental performance and comply with relevant regulatory statutes.
  • Provide or facilitate direct technical support for new equipment fabrication and meet with fabricators at their manufacturing facilities (when required) to ensure timely delivery of critical equipment.
  • Ensure that construction packages developed by third party design firms to execute turnaround capital projects meet quality and schedule requirements.
  • Provide stakeholders and site management with a routine status of capital projects both in development and implementation, while actively communicating technical issues, milestone progress, and adjustments to turnaround schedule and budgets.
  • Responsible for the performance and development of direct reports.


Position Requirements:
  • B.S. degree in engineering from an ABET accredited university is required.
  • Seven or more years of engineering related experience in the oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing industry preferred.
  • Five or more years of project engineering experience in a refinery or chemical manufacturing facility preferred.
  • Five or more years of hands-on, in-plant experience preferred.
  • PMP training/certification preferred.
  • Experience with nitrogen fertilizer processes is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) required. Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with personnel of all backgrounds. Louisiana Professional Engineer Registration preferred. Strong management skills required, including leadership, team building, team member development, critical decision making, and time management.
  • Keen sense of organization and prioritization when managing multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines in a dynamic environment with occasional guidance from supervision.
  • Must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work at heights, and enter confined spaces.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software.
  • Must possess and maintain Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC).
  • The ability to prove drug and alcohol free at random or for cause
