SUMMARY
The Field Technician uses defined procedures to collect and pick-up samples for analysis.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform various written procedures to collect, sample, analyze and pick-up samples for analysis.
Perform field sample analysis for temperatures, DO, pH and chlorine.
Maintain standard operating procedure (SOP) for field sampling to include sampling and procedures for temperatures, DO, pH, and chlorine.
Maintain records of daily or with each use of calibrations for DO, pH, and chlorine meters.
Ensure documentation of lot numbers of reagents being used for traceability.
Maintain courteous relationships with clients.
Fill out chains of custody appropriately and uniquely label bottles before placing in coolers.
Assure that the sampling equipment and sampling technique is adequate to prevent contamination of samples and to minimize fire and safety hazards.
Be able to communicate with team members and clients to ensure proper sampling or collection.
Be able to meet client turnaround times and sample hold times.
Perform tasks and maintain records as assigned by supervisor, QA, or management.
Assure that the housekeeping in work areas is adequate to prevent contamination of samples and to minimize fire and safety hazards.
Be able to understand and follow EPA and other environmental protocols and procedures.
Ensure that all work is generated in compliance with policies and the A & B QA Plan.
Provide the QA Manager, Laboratory Manager, Supervisor and/or Technical Manager with immediate notification of quality problems.
