Laitram Machinery, Inc. has a position available for a Fabrication Shop Helper. This individual will be a key player in fabrication operations at our Harahan, LA location. Applicants should be self-starters, able to complete tasks with little direct supervision.

Responsibilities

* Perform general housekeeping/clean up in assigned area

* Thoroughly clean and apply chemical treatments to welds

* Operate shop equipment as necessary

* Assist fabricators in performance of their duties

* Gather materials.

* Move material to next station

* Other duties as assigned

* It is essential that this position is performed at the facility.

Requirements

* High School diploma, GED Equivalent, or Vocational School diploma.

* Ability to work in and maintain a safe work environment

* Entry level knowledge of all equipment and tools necessary to perform the duties required

* Ability to learn how to operate material handling equipment to move and align materials

* Must be able to learn Laitram Machinery Quality Standards

* Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift and move 50 lbs

Desired Qualifications

* Previous fabrication experience and/or vocational training.

* Previous overhead crane experience

* Previous forklift experience
